Complex distributed information systems are an effective tool for government control and taxing of different resources and economic activities. INVAP\'s experience is ideal to develop this kind of systems, involving data acquisiton (remote or not), communication networks, information distribution points and operating centers. Data processing centers produce real time reports, allowing to have a both a gloabl and a detailed view of everything that is taking place in a large and/or complex area, usually with changing parameters.
SIMPO: Fishing and Oceanographic Information and Monitoring System
SIMPO is a proven and efficient application to verify the sustainable exploitation of the fishing resource. The province of Río Negro in Argentina uses this system to obtain a detailed record of the activity of the vast San Matias Gulf.
The application is based on devices installed on board the ships that allow to know their position, speed and direction, as well as pictures of the on board activities and weight of the extracted fish. Part of the acquired data are immediately sent by satellite. The sensors store all the information recorded that is later one recovered by the corresponding autorithy. This information is received and processed at the Data Processing Center and then distributed among all users.
