INVAP new headquarters, located on the main access to San Carlos de Bariloche, some 4 km away from downtown, are at an advanced construction stage and almost all major activities, particularly those performed by the Space and Government & Defense area, are already done on these premises.

A large space is necessary to assemble big size satellites.  These new centralized facilities help improve the operating efficiency and the best use of the company resources and infrastructure.  Besides, they facilitate the integration of different work teams, a critical issue for a company naturally dedicated to diverse disciplines, whose competitive advantage has historically relied on its policy of mixing concepts and experts in different fields of knowledge.

The construction of the buildings inaugurated on this first stage has been financed 40 per cent with our own funds and 60 per cent by means of a mortgage loan obtained from Banco de la Nación Argentina, a national bank, and the BICE.

In turn, the construction of the second stage will be 100 per cent financed with Negotiable Bonds subscribed by the ANSES (Social Security Administration Office) together with Banco de la Nación Argentina, BICE Bank, Banco Galicia and private investors.


The architecture is as functional as possible.  Our new buildings try to integrate the satellite mounting and assembly rooms and other equipment with the engineering departments.   We want our headquarters to reflect the "knowledge economy" and at the same time, to be respectful of the environment.


The complex is formed by three main buildings interconnected by pedestrian bridges, closed due to the severe local weather.

One of the constructions is a highly complex "smart building", provided with filtered air, regulated temperature and humidity, and rooms designed for the development and integration of satellites, for the useful loads they will transport and for equipment requiring a clean atmosphere.  This controlled inner atmosphere is mandatory for satellite integration, but is also useful for other microelectronic systems intended to work in extreme conditions.

Besides the satellite integration rooms, the site provides test and support facilities for disciplines such as optics, electronics - specially radio frequency, even of high power - to develop satellite useful loads such as remote sensing and radars.  The satellite integration room is equipped with glazed viewing corridors so that visitors may watch the process without interfering.  The building also has an Auditorium that can hold 100 people.

One of the buildings, that will have a pyramidal shape (only the foundations are built at the moment), will contain the Head, Management and Administration Offices, which are now temporarily located at the Common Services building.

This pyramidal building will also host the Basic, Detail and Process Engineering Departments.  To support the main activities, there will be other services: Documentation, Quality and Environmental Management, Data Processing and Communication Centers and a Library.

The Common Services building locates the Human Resources Department, a lunchroom, and the Infirmary.

Temporarily, this building also hosts the Board of Directors and the General Management.  Other auxiliary services (warehouse, electrical distribution, transformation station) are not shown in the picture.

Care and benefits

Running water for all:
At the Department of Water Affairs (DPA) request, an access easement has been created and the DPA has built a water tank to provide tap water to the whole surrounding area. 

ISO 9001 (Quality Assurance) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Care) Standards
Our company has been ISO 14.001:1996 certified.  This standard guarantees a strict environmental management for all our activities, involving a high level of control, even higher than already strict controls the company used to have.  This adds to the ISO9001:2008 Quality Certification, obtained in 1996 and updated ever since.

Environmental Safety

Besides complying with Environmental and Industrial Security Regulations, the construction plan has been designed to minimize the impact on the environment and on our neighbours\' lives.  The Construction Environmental Management Plan includes issues related to fire control, vehicle circulation, preservation of first soil horizon (soil movements, excavations and stockpiling),  reconversion of the adjacent cave, (urban) waste disposal, hygiene services (chemical toilets), landscaping and impact of illumination.

Access to premises:
Warning road signs have been placed and a turning lane has been built to guarantee the security of both the vehicles accessing the site and those circulating along Luis Piedrabuena Avenue (formerly R.N. 237).
