{"id":6155,"date":"2013-11-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-11-29T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dwinvap.com.ar\/2013\/11\/29\/invap-took-part-in-the-science-and-technology-seminar-organized-by-telam\/"},"modified":"2013-11-29T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-11-29T03:00:00","slug":"invap-took-part-in-the-science-and-technology-seminar-organized-by-telam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.invap.com.ar\/en\/invap-took-part-in-the-science-and-technology-seminar-organized-by-telam\/","title":{"rendered":"INVAP took part in the Science and Technology Seminar organized by T\u00e9lam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The engineer Tulio Calder\u00f3n, Government and Aerospace Project Manager of INVAP (Applied Research Company), delivered a lecture in the context of the cycle organized by the National News Agency, T\u00e9lam, and the Foreign Correspondents Association.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting, which took place at T\u00e9lam headquarters in 372 Defensa Street, Buenos Aires City, was attended by accredited journalists from Ecuador, Switzerland, Spain and regional agencies.<\/p>\n<p>During his lecture, Calder\u00f3n said that \u201cscience and technology are having a really great time in Argentine today\u201d and that \u201cuniversities, research institutions such as Conicet (National Scientific and Technical Research Council) and INTA (National Institute of Agricultural Technology), and industrial companies are finding new and better ways to relate to each other.\u201d<br \/>Calder\u00f3n explained that INVAP, \u201can Argentine state-owned company of the Province of R\u00edo Negro,\u201d works \u201cas a business corporation in the sense that it does not count with a budget of its own,\u201d so that &#8220;its income comes only from the work it generates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>INVAP is busy in the manufacturing of radars, satellites, platforms, nuclear reactors and other high-technology products.<\/p>\n<p>Calder\u00f3n remarked that \u201cdevelopment in this area not only strengthens the country\u2019s sovereignty but also means successful business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As regards human resources, the Project Manager of INVAP pointed out \u201cthe lack of engineers, physicists, mathematicians, meteorologists, astronomers, etc.\u201d and the fact that \u201cin our country, unemployment in these fields is zero.\u201d He added that the lack of highly skilled human resources \u201cis a worldwide problem\u201d, and highlighted \u201cthe programs aiming to the comeback of Argentine scientists now living abroad and the invitation to foreign specialists to come to Argentina.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the past, manpower shortage in this sector went unnoticed; today, there are vacant positions for these professionals,\u201d Calder\u00f3n said, and added that \u201caccording to the information provided by the National Ministry of Education only 3.5 % of the annual university graduates are engineers, in contrast with 50 % of lawyers, accountants, economists and physicians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Calder\u00f3n explained that a country looking for \u201cits nuclear self-sufficiency has a long-term view\u201d since &#8220;these projects take 50 or 60 years to be completed\u201d and \u201cthis implies to make decisions affecting many generations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After a review of the tenders won abroad by INVAP to manufacture satellites or platforms \u2014an area in which the national company has a respected track record in the world market\u2014 Calder\u00f3n stressed that \u201cwhat provides value added is technological mastery in a specialized field\u201d and this is precisely the reason why Argentina is well regarded abroad.<\/p>\n<p>The expert, whose technical career spans almost 20 years, ranked Argentina number one in the regional aerospace and nuclear energy production, and Brazil number one in the aeronautical field.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 11px;\">SOURCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telam.com.ar\/notas\/201311\/42708-corresponsales-extranjeros-participaron-del-seminario-ciencia-y-tecnologia-realizado-por-telam.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><strong>TELAM<\/strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The engineer Tulio Calder\u00f3n, Government and Aerospace Project Manager of INVAP (Applied Research Company), delivered a lecture in the context of the cycle organized by the National News Agency, T\u00e9lam, and the Foreign Correspondents Association.
