On May 22, Prof. Roberto Battiston, President of the Italian Space Agency (ASI, in Italian), visited the headquarters of INVAP S.E. (Argentine state-owned applied research company), in the context of his official visit to Argentina whose aim was to strengthen the space cooperation between both countries.<\/p>\n
While touring INVAP\u2019s facilities, he was accompanied by a delegation that included Dr. Gabriella Arrigo, International Relations and ASI High Education Manager; Prof. Jos\u00e9 Kenny, Science Attach\u00e9 of the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires; Dr. Anamar\u00eda Nascisi, from TAS-I; Engineer Fernando Hisas, responsible of the Italian-Argentine System of Satellites for Emergency Management (SIASGE, in Spanish) dependent on the Argentine National Space Activities Commission (CONAE, in Spanish); Dr. Laura Frulla and Engineer Jorge Medina.<\/p>\n
Prof. Battiston was welcomed at INVAP by Lic. H\u00e9ctor Otheguy, General Manager & CEO; Dr. Pablo Tognetti, Director; Engineer Gabriel Absi, Personnel Director; Engineer Guillermo Benito, Space Projects Manager; Engineer Ignacio Grossi, ARSAT Account Manager, and Engineer Luis Genovese, Chief of the ARSAT-2 Project. Furthermore, Engineer Andr\u00e9s Rodr\u00edguez, ARSAT Satellite Program Manager and Engineer Mart\u00edn Serra, ARSAT Engineer of Satellite Planning, also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n
The ASI is part of the project to develop the SAOCOM satellites. It provides the Transmission\/Reception modules (Modules T\/R) with the corresponding state-of the-art Synthetic Aperture Radar\u2019s (SAR) Power Supply Units (PSU), a broad training program for satellite information users and the development of software tools and space data transmission networks.<\/p>\n
Apart from INVAP, Prof. Battiston also visited the ground station in Falda del Carmen, Province of C\u00f3rdoba, which belongs to CONAE, dependent on the Ministry of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services.<\/p>\n
