In the context of the National Nuclear Medicine Plan, promoted by the National Commission of Atomic Energy (CNEA, in Spanish), work has begun on the future Center for Radiotherapy and Pediatric Nuclear Medicine at the Garrahan Hospital. INVAP, hired by CNEA, will be responsible for the engineering and construction of the new sector, as well as for the supply, installation and start-up of the equipment required for its operation.<\/p>\n
The project includes the integration of the Elekta EVO linear accelerator, the first of its kind in a pediatric hospital in Latin America, and a state-of-the-art tomography simulator. Both devices, specially designed to treat pediatric patients with oncological diseases, will provide high precision and high-quality treatments. The Elekta EVO accelerator offers advanced adaptive and personalized radiation therapy capabilities. Its technology significantly improves speed and image quality, which are key to treating tumors in children with maximum efficacy and safety.<\/p>\n
INVAP’s participation in this project includes both the adaptation of the bunker where the equipment will be installed and the integral management of the associated systems. This initiative combines highly complex hospital infrastructure with state-of-the-art medical technology applied to the treatment, control and prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases such as cancer.<\/p>\n
The Garrahan Hospital is a reference institution in pediatrics for the entire region, and this advance reinforces its position as a leading center in pediatric oncology care.<\/p>\n
