The third edition of INVAP’s Contest for the Best Engineering Theses reached its final stage. While the jury of experts began the evaluation process, details were announced on the participation of 200 national talents in the contest, which awards more than 10 million pesos in prizes.
With 162 theses submitted from 16 provinces, the selected works highlight the value of applied research in the engineering universe with a plurality of perspectives. The nominees in each category —Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctorate— will be announced in September. The award ceremony will be held in October, at INVAP’s Headquarters in San Carlos de Bariloche. These innovative projects that seek to improve people’s quality of life were developed in 47 academic institutions across the country (83% of which are public and 17% of which are private).
On the verge of celebrating its 49th anniversary, the Argentine company, a global leader in technological projects worldwide, remains committed to quality academic training. In this respect, the nationwide contest serves as a beacon for engineers to showcase their ideas in line with INVAP’s vision: to promote training in strategic areas for the country’s development with the aim of building a better future for Argentines.
Of the 35 engineering careers represented in the call, 16% correspond to electronic engineering, followed by 12% linked to biomedical engineering. The participation ranking includes mechanical, computer, industrial, chemical, materials among other engineering careers.
The evaluation committee is made up of Daniel Saccone (Lic. in Physics from the UBA and PhD in Physics from the UNLP), Roberto Hernández (Geologist and Petroleum Engineer), and Diana Balaguer (Chemical Engineer), among other experts.
The awards for each category include an economic compensation equivalent to 5 (five) monthly internal Conicet (Bariloche) doctoral scholarships for the winning doctoral theses. Meanwhile, 3 (three) units correspond to the graduate’s degree and 2 (two) units to the undergraduate’s degree. A Special Mention Founders of INVAP will also be awarded for recognized theses with a creative and interdisciplinary approach.
