Early in October, INVAP has signed a contract to furnish –on a “turn-key” basis- 18 radiotherapy centres to the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Venezuela, to be constructed in different sites all over that country.

These centres incorporate cobalt therapy units, linear accelerators and simulators, as well as shielding bunkers and ancillary services. Maintenance of these centres over 5 years is also included in the scope of the 53 mUSD contract, to be fulfilled in 18 months, as well as the furnishment of medical Co-60 sources made by the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission.

This contract is a part of the General Cooperation Agreement signed some time ago between the governments of Argentina and Venezuela. It emphasizes the international cooperation between these nations as well as the increased presence of Argentine-made high-tech equipment on the international market.
