26-05-2009 – High Level Delegation from Argelia visits INVAP and Balseiro Institute : Within the framework of existing binational cooperation agreements, INVAP received the visit of a delegation from Argelia, led by the Minister for Energy and Mining of that country, S.E.D. Chakib Khelil. The delegation also visited the Bariloche Atomic Research center of CNEA as well as the Balseiro Institute.


Within the framework of existing binational cooperation agreements, INVAP received the visit of a delegation from Argelia, led by the Minister for Energy and Mining of that country, S.E.D. Chakib Khelil. The delegation also visited the Bariloche Atomic Research center of CNEA as well as the Balseiro Institute. The algerian visitors came with a number high officials of the Argentine Government: the Secretary for Agriculture, Husbandry, Fishing and Alimentation, Ing. C. Cheppi; officers from the Ministries for Foreign Affairs and International Trade and for Infrastructure and Public Invesment and Services; and from the Atomic Energy Commission.

The purpose of the visit was to deepen a long history of cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. As a matter oi fact, starting 1985, INVAP built the research reactor “NUR” and other nuclear facilities in Argelia. The algerian delegation visited INVAP´s space installations and also received information on the nuclear projects in progress. In the area of Space Technology, Argelia wishes to foster collaboration in both Earth observation and Communications satellites.

After receiving information about INVAP from its chief managers and visiting its facilities, the delegation visited the Bariloche Atomic Center of the Argentine Atomic Energy Commission and the international standard Balseiro Institute (Cuyo University and CNEA), where they learned about research and high level Human Resources formation.
