The IB50K is a Business Plans Based on Technology contest, dependent on the Argentine National Commission of Atomic Energy (CNEA, in Spanish) and the National University of Cuyo (UNCuyo, in Spanish), that has been carried out from 2009. The aim of the contest is to support the creation and development of innovative technological companies, to encourage students and young professionals to develop their enterprising capability, and to promote the technological and industrial progress of the country.

The contest, sponsored by INVAP (an Argentine state-owned applied research company) and other companies such as Techint, Aluar, Cites and Admira, is aimed at young students or graduates from Argentine Universities. At least half of the members of each group should be younger than 35 years old. A sum of Argentine pesos equivalent to 50,000 dollars will be awarded to the winners by the IB50K. The subject areas of the projects should be nano and microtechnology, applied energy technologies, medical physics, nuclear technology, and information and communications technology.

The project assessment given to all contestant groups will be made by experts in the different areas mentioned as well as in business development and technological management.
