On February 24, the General Manager & CEO of INVAP S.E. (an Argentine state-owned applied research company), Lic. Héctor Otheguy, and the President-Director of AREVA TA (French nuclear power company leader in this market), Mrs. Carolle Foissaud, signed a memorandum of agreement for a joint submission to develop a research reactor and a power reactor in South Africa.

The official ceremony took place at the Casa Rosada (Government House), in the context of the President of France Mr. Francois Hollande’s visit to Argentina, whose aim was to make progress on the joint projects concerning agroindustry, defense, justice, science and technology, nuclear energy, and cultural and educational integration.

In that regard, during his speech, the President of the Argentine Nation, Engineer Mauricio Macri, drew attention to INVAP by saying: “I would like to devote a special chapter to this company, in which we, Argentinians, take great pride, and to the work carried out together with Areva. We should try to encourage the satellite and space research increasing our research capability to produce practical applications and create sources of employment for our communities.”
