This morning started Bicexpo 2010, exhibition and conference for Information Technology and Communications in the Bicentennial, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The main conference was given by the Comptroller of the National Communications Commission (NCC) Ceferino Namuncura, Tristan Bauer responsible for Argentina Radio and Television (RTA) and Osvaldo Nemirovsci, Coordinator General of the Council of Digital Television Argentina.

The second conference discussed the implementation of the ISDB-T standard adopted by the Argentine Terrestrial Digital TV System in August 2009 during the extraordinary summit of UNASUR in San Carlos de Bariloche. In this context, the general manager of INVAP, Héctor Otheguy, stressed the need to encourage domestic industry strategically using the purchasing power of the Argentine government, minimizing the use of foreign exchange and hiring national suppliers. Also stressed the opportunity represented by the new Digital TV System for the country’s technological development.

The commercial manager of ARSAT, Mariano Goldschmidt, said that for those places away from the antennas, the deployment of Digital TV is made possible by terrestrial and satellite coverage through the system Direct-To-Home (DTH). Finally, Emmanuel Jaffrot, a member of the Advisory Board of Digital TV explained that the infrastructure that will be deployed for the coverage of the Argentine Digital Terrestrial TV may also be shared with other telecommunications services. In this regard he stressed that the creation of a shared national infrastructure will mix local and national content and at the same time will enable the data connection.
