INVAP (an Argentine state-owned applied research company), together with other Argentine companies, participated in the nineteenth edition of the International Air and Space Fair 2016 (FIDAE, in Spanish) carried out in Santiago de Chile from March 29 to April 3. More than 500 companies related to the aerospace, defense and security areas displayed their products and set out their services there.

The fair brought together people from 59 countries. Argentina was represented by a delegation headed by the Minister of Defense, Engineer Julio Martínez; the Secretary of Strategy and Military Affairs, Lic. Ángel Tello; the Secretary of Science, Technology and Production for the Defense, Architect Héctor Lostri; and the Logistics Secretary for the Defense, Emergencies Coordination and Cultural Management, Engineer Walter Ceballos.

The opening ceremony of the fair was attended by the President of the Republic of Chile, Dr. Michelle Bachelet. After that, the Argentine Minister of Defense held a bilateral meeting with his Chilean peer, Dr. José Antonio Gómez Urrutia.

Engineer Julio Martínez was accompanied by the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General VGM Bari del Valle Sosa (Malvinas War Veteran, VGM in Spanish); the Chief of the Army, Major General Diego Suñer; the Chief of the Navy, Vice-Admiral Marcelo Srur; and the Chief of the Air Force, Brigadier VGM Enrique Amrein.

FIDAE is a multi-sectoral fair covering fields such as Civil and Commercial Aviation, Defense, Airport Equipment and Services, Homeland Security, Aircrafts Maintenance, and Space Technology. It provides attendees with a complete overview of the corresponding activities and lets them project future scenarios.
