From May 29 to 30, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) held a Symposium in San Carlos de Bariloche. The event was organized by the Argentine Ministry of Communications and the ITU to facilitate an exchange concerning policies, national space plans, its regulations and licenses, and to share their respective experiences as regards latest communication technologies.

Industry experts, satellite operators, and representatives of the Americas region’s regulatory bodies and space agencies took part in the meeting. At the end of the Symposium, they visited INVAP’s headquarters to know in detail the work carried out there to develop, manufacture and test satellites. During the tour, participants were briefed about the company’s most important achievements throughout its 40-year trajectory and about its development areas in the following fields: nuclear, space, government, industrial, alternative energies, information and communication technology (TICs, in Spanish), and technological services.

They visited the Satellite Integration Building, or “clean-room”, where they could observe the SAOCOM 1A and 1B satellites in their different assembling stages. They also toured CEATSA S.A., where the environmental tests of these satellites are being carried out.

The event finished at Benavídez, near the city of Buenos Aires, where some of the attendants had the opportunity to visit the ground station of the company ARSAT S.A.
