In the context of the National Nuclear Medicine Plan, led by the Argentine National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA, in Spanish), the Northern Patagonia Radiation Oncology Center was inaugurated on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Santa Rosa.
INVAP, under contract with CNEA, was responsible for the engineering, construction of the facility, and the supply of high-complexity equipment featuring advanced medical technology.
In mid-2024, the Province of La Pampa assumed full ownership of the project through an agreement signed with CNEA and INVAP. In this second phase, INVAP, contracted by the Province of La Pampa, was responsible for the installation and commissioning of radiotherapy equipment aimed at diagnosing and treating cancer.
Among the key pieces of equipment installed are two linear accelerators, a high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy unit, a radiation beam measurement and control system, and a patient immobilization equipment for treatments.
The opening of the Center represents a milestone for the Province of La Pampa, as it expands access to high-complexity oncological treatments and avoids the need to refer patients to other provinces.
Today, INVAP continues to support the Province by providing specialized staff training, and equipment maintenance services recently contracted by the provincial government.
