From June 22 to 26, the fifth Conference of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) was held at Vienna’s Hofburg Palace, Austria. The organization was established in 1996 with the aim of verifying and monitoring the ban on nuclear explosions on the surface of earth or under, in the atmosphere, under water or wherever, no matter who may carry it out.

The objective of the Conference, in which more than 1000 people participated and over 500 abstracts were submitted, is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and advances in technology relevant to the Organization. The international cooperation involved ensures that the global verification regime of the treaty is at the forefront of the science and technological innovation.

On behalf of INVAP S.E. (Argentine state-owned applied research company), the Lic. Ricardo Sagarzazu, Vice President of Strategic Developments, participated as Co-Chairman in the exposition entitled “Advanced sensor technologies,” and Dr. Eduardo Nassif together with Dr. Mariana Alessi, of the Nuclear Project Management, gave presentations in the session on “Radiopharmaceuticals Isotopes Production.”
